OBJECTIVES FOR WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT

    Two complete pages in length, word-processed, size 12 Times New Roman font, 1" margins & double spaced. Cover page with title, student’s name, and date. No late papers will be accepted.

2.   Reflection on your experiences throughout this course.  Areas to focus on:

    How the lab and clinical site visit helped shape your knowledge of the profession.
    Importance of communication as a Radiologic Technologist and healthcare.
    How implicit bias affects what you do as a health care provider and if awareness can assist in providing better care.
    Any additional thoughts or concerns you have about your future path.

3. Grammar, spelling, and sentence structure will be used to assess your writing.  If you use any research or resources outside of your own thoughts you will need to cite your sources within the body of the essay as well as in an APA formatted reference page at the end.  Failure to do so will result in zero points for the paper.  Keep in mind that this is a reflection paper, NOT a research paper.  I want to know your thoughts, not what you read online.

*Attendance is mandatory. Students missing a day that class meets may be dropped from the course and will be unable to pass the class. It is expected that students will arrive on time for the start of class. There will be no penalty for the first tardy. A second tardy, and subsequent tardies, will incur a 5-point deduction per occurrence. Please note that a tardy in the Radiologic Technology program is considered 15 minutes or less from the start time or end time of the class meeting. Anything longer than 15 minutes is considered a missed class.

Being tardy for any class meeting will be noted here. Any applicable point deductions for the course will also be reflected here.

1. What are your goals as they relate to Radiologic Technology? (Answer in 3-5 complete sentences) My personal goals and inspiration are to become a radiology technologist. After visiting clinical observation at school radiology lab and Standford hospital, my goal and decision became more dedicated and my vision clearer, which I wanted to become a dedicated professional in the healthcare field. Visiting the observation at Stanford hospital helped me understand that the radiologic technology program focuses on technology, caring, and safety. It is not only learning about diagnostic health technology but also rendering patient care and fulfilling the patient’s physiological and psychological needs and to ensure patient safety and comfort while performing diagnostic test. And I also relate that safety is important because the technologist must follow the strict protocol to minimize the radiation exposure to the patient. If you are not accepted into the radiology program on your timeline, what is your back-up plan? (Answer in 3-5 complete sentences.) I understand that all the health technology and professional programs are difficult to get in and select the limited number of students. Although, I did not get in at first attempt, I will continue studying on associated health science at foothill and apply again for the radiologic technology program. I am working at a hospital as a patient care technician in the healthcare field and I am waiting for these opportunities to advance my career. Even though I am not accepted in the radio technologist program, my goal, my passions, and inspiration will not disappear. I will apply again and again.

Why are you interested in the Radiologic Technology profession?  What do you hope to get out of this class specifically?  Please think beyond that this is a required prerequisite course. Your assignment should be a minimum of 8-10 sentences.

 

 

                 My name is Phyu , currently working as a certified nursing assistant at El Camino Hospital and Kaiser Hospital . Previously I wanted to become a nurse when working in the clinical setting I felt a little stressful for me, so that i decided to change my major to radiology technology. I am taking this radiology technology for my prerequisite for my requirement in order to get into the radiologic technology program. In my opinion  radiology technology profession job has positive job outlook and provide comfortable pay rate.  Compare to nursing profession less stress.  I also love to work using advance technology equipment. In the past I don't know much there are many subject in radiology. After attend the first day of the RT200L radiology technology as a career I felt my vision more clear  , can able to establish my career goal more stronger. I can see many differences in radiology technology field specialized in many different area which is radiology ,computed tomography , radiation therapy, nuclear medicine , cardiac-interventional radiography, vascular-interventional radiography , mammography , magnetic resonance , sonography , bone densitiometry which make me really impressed and gained more courage to achieve my goal to become radio technologist professional.

IMPORTANT:

    • I received the result not that  expected my total score is 10 out of 16 . When taking the test I make some mistake while choosing the facial recognition . In speed testing , sometimes i missed out to click because it was very fast.

                Implicit bias affect our understanding  , action and decision unconsciously. There are many reason can cause implicit bias in health care such as insufficient socioeconomic, poverty,  language barrier, limited education. In health care setting implicit bias can derail the diagnosis and treatment plan.
