IMPORTANT:
- You do not have to share your specific results, but you may.
- You do not need to register for anything. The free results that come up are enough for this assignment.
- You do not have to input your own demographic information to complete the Implicit Association Test - therefore, that cannot be one of your arguments against the test as a whole. It's just collected data - and does not influence your test results.
- Remember, this assignment is not to pass judgment. It's intended to highlight an automatic preference or bias. It does not mean you're a bad person or that you act on the bias. For example- if my result indicated that I have a preference for old people it doesn't mean I treat young people poorly or value them less. The result could be a reflection of working closely with this population of patients, or having close relationships with grandparents, or just generally feeling more comfortable with them.
- Your responses should not include an argument against the validity of the results or the testing methods. That's not the purpose of the assignment. I'm not asking that you defend your results. Rather, this should be an opportunity to explore the possibility that bias is a part of all of us.
