Hello!
You are receiving this message because you are currently either
registered for or waitlisted for the Winter session of RT200L which will
start on Monday, January 8th at 8:00am in room 5610.
Please read ALL of
the course information below carefully.
My name is Lisa Chesser-Nielsen.
I am a full-time faculty member for the Radiologic Technology Program at Foothill College and will be your instructor for the RT200L course this Winter.
The purpose of RT200L is to learn about the Radiologic Technology profession as well as the program at Foothill College.
This will be done through class lectures, a lab, and a clinic visit.
My goal is to help you make an educated decision regarding your future.
If you already know that the Radiologic
Technology profession is for you, this course will help you better
prepare for our program.
Please note: The course is currently full with a full waitlist.
If you read the details below and find that this is not the right time for you to take this class, be sure to drop as soon as possible so one of the 25 waitlisted people can register.
Add codes are only given at the end of our first class meeting IF space becomes available.
To receive an add code you need to attend and participate for the entire first class. Add codes are not guaranteed.

2. 100% attendance is mandatory to pass the course. You are expected
to engage, ask questions, and participate in lectures/discussions. If
you are unable to meet during any of the scheduled class times, the lab
or the clinic visit, please drop the course. There are no exceptions to
the attendance policy and the course is offered every quarter.
3. You will be randomly assigned to and must attend the on-campus lab.
You will be assigned either 8-11am or 12-3pm on January 30th. NO
REQUESTS!!!
4. Clinic Visit
You will be assigned a 3-hour clinic visit on one day between 2/5 and
3/1. You will have an opportunity to provide me with your availability.
However, you must be able to provide a minimum of 3-4 dates that you can
attend the clinic visit during a morning or afternoon shift. You will
need to wear a white long-sleeved lab coat to your clinic visit. It
should be mid-thigh or knee length and not have any logos or lettering
on it. Amazon has some inexpensive options, or you can find them at most
scrub shops. More information regarding clinic visits will be given in
class.
5. Canvas will be used as a support tool for our class.
Your green sheet/syllabus will be posted there once I've opened the course. This is also where you will find announcements once we get going, your assigned groups and meetings, and all course assignments.
I typically open the
course on the first day of the quarter, possibly a day or two before.
6. Some (but not all) course requirements include: A paper submitted on
Canvas, a presentation, quiz, punctual attendance at all class sessions
including the lab, and clinic visit. Attendance is mandatory as you must
complete all course hours in order to pass the class - there are NO
exceptions.
7. *Attendance is mandatory. Students missing a day that class meets will not be able to pass the class. It
is expected that students will be on time for the start of class. There
will be no penalty for the first tardy. A second tardy, and subsequent
tardies, will incur a 5-point deduction per occurrence. Please note that
a tardy in the Radiologic Technology Program (and in this class) is
considered 15 minutes or less from the start time or end time of the
class meeting. Anything longer than 15 minutes is considered a missed
class.

If after reading through the above details you feel that this is not the
right time for you to complete the course, we do offer it every quarter
so you can try again in the Spring. Just note that it is always full
with a full waitlist so you won't want to delay registering.
This course does not finish in time to allow you to apply for the Foothill Radiologic Technology 2024 cohort. The application deadline is March 1st, This course, as well as the quarter ends after the deadline, making you ineligible to apply for the 2024 cohort, even if all other prerequisites are met.
Please note, there is no textbook required for this class.
I look forward to meeting you all and introducing you to the profession I love and the program I am thrilled to be a part of!
*If you have questions, I'm happy to answer them, but I do ask that you
please review the details here again to ensure I haven't already
answered it.
*If you do reach out, please be sure to include your name and the course you’re referencing.
*If you are waitlisted, all adds before the start date are handled
through registration only. Add codes are only provided from me on the
first day, but I have no way of knowing in advance if there will be
space. The only option is to attend day 1 and see what happens.
